Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel insists he has never thought about letting Callum Hudson-Odoi leave the club.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the club over the summer, with Dortmund and Leicester City hoping to borrow on the final day of the market. But the German coach insists clearly never thinking about releasing the English footballer from the team at all.

“We’ve talked It was an easy decision for me to settle for the last day of the market,” Tuchel said.

“We can’t let the players out in the 18/19 squad, he can play right wing-back, left wing-back, he can play as the number 10, he knows the team very well. We know him very well. There is definitely no way to say yes on the last day.”

“For him it might be a good opportunity. But for us and our goal is to be successful. It’s not possible It was easy for me.”

“Callum had to cross between training and the real game. I saw Callum’s strength in training every day and he had to go through the gaps and show what he saw in training.

“If he has played it’s not a gift No one gets a gift because sometimes we might make a difficult decision like Callum never let him go. He must be worthy I know it’s not his favorite position. But I think he can play in this position and help the team when needed.”

“Today it was necessary and he could do better. He can be more aggressive. He could push himself to the limit. This is what he does in training. He had to overcome this gap to fight for his place in the team. This is life at Chelsea.”
